¿Hablas español? BILINGUAL volunteers needed to advocate for children in foster care

Description

In approximately 15 hours per month, you can make a difference in a child's life as a volunteer BILINGUAL advocate. More than fifty percent of children in the Passaic and Union County foster care system identify as Latinx. Unfortunately, there is a serious shortage of Bilingual English/Spanish volunteers to advocate for their rights.

When a child enters foster care, he or she is assigned a dedicated, trained Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) volunteer from the CASA of Passaic and Union County Program. The child’s advocate ensures that their individual needs remain a priority while they move through the child welfare system and the family court. CASAs work one-on-one with the abused or neglected child, gathering information from the family, caretakers, teachers, doctors, and caseworkers in order to make informed recommendations to the family court about the child’s future. No experience or formal education is needed!

Join CASA of Passaic and Union as a BILINGUAL advocate, and change a child's life! Training begins in October, so contact Sara Torres at sara@casapassaicunion.org ASAP to get started or visit our website to register for an information session as your first step!
